ICONIC FEATURE SURVEY

The Point of the Mountain State Land Authority (Land Authority) recognizes the importance of incorporating one or more distinctive and globally defining iconic feature(s) at The Point. To date, the Land Authority has engaged nearly 4,000 Utahns to solicit public input. The details of the iconic feature(s) will be guided by the The Point Public Art Master Plan, which is anticipated to be complete in 2024. The iconic feature(s) will be a prominent and visible aspect of Utah’s Innovation Community, attracting both local residents and visitors from around the world.

The iconic feature(s) will be a source of pride and inspiration for Utahns. Options could encompass a wide range of possibilities, including landscape art, sculptures, water features, architectural landmarks, and digital art. The Land Authority fielded a statewide public survey in August 2022 and August 2023. The survey was intentionally structured to provide high-level input from Utahns regarding the type, scope, scale, location, and thematic elements of the iconic feature(s).

The 2023 survey was distributed at local community events, shared with local communities in the Point of the Mountain area, posted on The Point’s social media accounts, and covered in local media outlets.
